XBRL US recently announced its half-day forum called “Smart Contracts, Blockchain & Data Standards.” Baruch Business and CFA Institute will partner to host the financial technology event. Attendees will include financial technologists, investors, analysts, regulators, investor relations professionals, and data providers. The free event will provide regulators, issuers and financial intermediates the opportunity to learn about blockchain technology and plan for the future.

Panel discussions and demos will cover blockchain and smart contract fundamentals, how to obtain funding, public versus private alternatives, and the pros and cons of XBRL use in smart contracts. Representatives from Consensys, ItBit, Markit, Nasdaq, Safeguard Scientifics, XBRL US and XBRL International will host discussions and demonstrations.

“Blockchain technology and smart contracts represent the potential for dramatic changes in capital markets structure, and it is reasonable to conclude that data standards can play an important role,” said Jim Allen, CFA and Head of Capital Markets Policy for the Americas at CFA INSTITUTE. “We’re still in early stages of this new industry movement and this forum is designed to provide insights into the technology and raise some of the key issues that financial market participants, especially regulators, need to start thinking about now.”

Smart Contracts, Blockchain & Data Standards will be held April 4th at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business, 151 E. 25th Street. Register here.
