SBIR Impact NYC, an initiative of New York City Economic Development and the City of New York, is offering 20 select life sciences and health care companies its yearly specialized SBIR/STTR application assistance, which includes advanced training workshops and 20 hours each of one-on-one expert proposal-development support.
The initiative identifies participants through a competitive application process offered three times a year. Currently, the program is in its second application cycle, which ends April 22.
SBIR, or the Small Business Innovation Research, and the Small Business Technology Transfer programs provide more than $2.8 billion awarded by 11 federal agencies in non-dilutive grants and contracts annually to early-stage companies.
Designed to enhance the competitiveness of SBIR/STTR proposals among New York’s life sciences and health care technology companies, the program asks applicants to participate in an assessment call with SBIR’s program team to discuss eligibility and interest in submitting an application.
Once 20 companies are chosen, a waiting list is made, and additional companies can be accepted based on availability. Selected participants will participate in an “Intensive Training” workshop in addition to receiving expert assistance.
To qualify, a company’s operations must be based in one of New York City’s five boroughs and include only non-confidential information in the application. Accepted candidates for the current application cycle will be notified by April 30.
A webinar for the application process is available through SBIR’s website. To apply, visit http://www.sbirnyc.com/apply/ and submit company information.
