AMP Robotics is leveraging artificial intelligence technology to employ robots for the recycling industry to improve efficiency on material recovery in municipal solid waste, electronic waste, and construction and demolition. The company’s new dual robot system, called AMP Cortex, is an addition to their product line of high speed recycling robotics that help shape the industry to be more productive.
The robots are guided by the AMP Neuron AI platform, with two high performing robots working quickly to sort, pick, and place materials at a speed of 160 pieces per minute. This unprecedented timing allows robots to sort contaminants in the recycling stream with more accuracy than human sorting and improves the overall purity of the materials.
The AMP Neuron platform is also trained with computer vision and machine learning to recognize colors, textures, shapes, sizes and patterns of the material, enabling it to track target pieces. The robots are optimal tools that can run 24/7 and cleanse the recycling stream of any unwanted fibers that will prevent companies from fully realizing their efficiency.
“The launch of the AMP Cortex dual-robot system marks another key technology milestone for AMP as we continue to advance the application of AI and robotics for the industry,” said Matanya Horowitz, chief executive officer of AMP. “Our latest innovation further improves the economics of recycling by helping waste management companies meet increased quality standards, reduce operational costs, and achieve their productivity goals.”
