Robot outside of industrial applications are on the rise, jumping from a 64% share of the market in 2016 to 70% in 2017. This structural shift in the $39.3 billion robotics market was presented by Tractica in their recently released report, “Robotics Use Cases”. They found that the majority of this growth comes from new and expanding use cases in warehousing, military robots, personal assistants, agriculture, and autonomous vehicles.

“The key trend emerging in the industry is that AI technologies like deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing are revolutionizing autonomy and UI/UX capabilities in robots,” says Glenn Sanders, senior analyst. “This trend is driving many of the most significant advancements in robotics and is making possible numerous new commercial and personal robotics use cases.”

In total Tractica found 110 real-world use cases within the total robotics market, with their report segmenting these diverse examples into 15 robot application markets. Their report forecast covers from 2017 through 2025, with market data that includes revenue forecasts for each of the segments described. Sanders added to this information that the number non-industrial robots for professionals and consumers should double in the next 5 years.
