In an effort to make materials waste management more efficient, AMP Robotics Corp, an AI and robotics recycling company, along with Ryohshin Co. Ltd., a waste management technology company, are partnering to introduce AI-driven robotics to improve material recovery. The two companies work within the construction and demolition (C&D) market and are set to release two high performing robots, named ‘Al-Benkei, and ‘Al-Musashi,’ to ease the process of recycling.

Each robot performs a specific function relating to recognizing, sorting, picking, and processing debris for recycling, while operating 24/7. Al-Benkei can handle up to 88 lbs of trash, with the ability to process up to 25 metric tons per hour. Al-Musashia uses a tandem-robot cell to pick up smaller items, processing up to 10 metric tons per hour.

The technology used is an AMP Neuron AI platform that achieves real-time pattern recognition through the eyes and brains of the robots in order to process the immense amount of data collected from the material. The platform recognizes colors, textures, shapes, and patterns which allows it to fully report on the material composition and analyze the operational productivity, which customers can then use to evaluate performance.

The business deal stipulates that Ryoshin can use the AMP Neuron platform to sell robotics systems in Japan, while AMP can then use their robotic technology for its next generation Cortex C&D robotic system for sale in North America.

“Ryohshin’s strong reputation and leadership in the Japanese recycling market makes a perfect match for us as we expand internationally. They are a fantastic technology partner and we see this as the first of many collaborations”, said Matanya Horowitz, chief executive officer of AMP in a press statement. “The combination of AI-Benkei and AI-Musashi with AMP Neuron is a tremendous leap in technology and productivity for C&D businesses. We are excited about the market response and will launch our own next generation AMP Cortex™ robotics system for C&D in North America soon.”
