The two-year-old startup founded by an MIT PhD has had a rapid rise from product introduction to substantial venture capital funding that will be used to further its research and global market expansion.

Meshy has raised nearly $400 million in a Series B funding round that values the artificial intelligence 3D generation company at $1.5 billion, marking what the company describes as the largest financing to date for a business built specifically around generative AI for 3D content.

The Silicon Valley-based company completed the funding round with participation from a group of global investors and all of Meshy’s existing backers. Having achieved Unicorn status, the announcement was the first time Meshy publicly disclosed its valuation.

Founded by MIT PhD Ethan Hu, Meshy initially focused on finding commercial applications for its AI-generated 3D models. As the technology improved, the company expanded into additional markets and developed new revenue streams across gaming, printing, design and cultural applications.

Meshy plans to use the new capital primarily to expand its research and development activities and accelerate its growth in global markets.

The financing follows a period of rapid adoption and revenue growth as industries increasingly explore AI tools for producing game assets, printable objects, product designs and interactive digital experiences.

Platform Offers Cost Savings in 3D Model Generation

Meshy’s foundational models are designed to make 3D creation faster and more accessible. Users can generate a usable 3D model from a text prompt or a single image in approximately one minute.

Creating similar assets traditionally required specialized design skills, expensive software, and days or weeks of work. Meshy says its technology can reduce the process to about one minute at a cost of approximately one dollar.

Meshy reported more than 12 million registered users and over 100 million 3D models created through its platform through July 2026. The company also said its annual recurring revenue is growing approximately twelvefold year over year.

The commercial performance is particularly notable in an emerging AI 3D market where many companies remain focused primarily on research or early product development.

Meshy has sought to differentiate itself by producing models that can move beyond visual demonstrations and into practical production workflows.

Meshy Introduces AI 3D Agent

Alongside the funding announcement, Meshy introduced several product updates, including what it calls the world’s first AI agent designed specifically for 3D creation.

Meshy 3D Agent allows users to begin with a conversation, text description, photo, or sketch and transform the input into a print-ready 3D model. The platform supports common file formats such as FBX, OBJ, GLB, and STL.

The agent can help users brainstorm ideas, generate multiple concepts, develop a selected concept into a model, and answer questions related to 3D production. Meshy says no previous 3D design experience is required.

For game development, models can be exported for use with platforms including Unity, Unreal Engine, and Blender. For 3D printing, Meshy reports that the agent can achieve a slicer success rate of up to 97%.

Auto Split Targets a Major 3D Printing Challenge

Meshy also launched Auto Split, a one-click feature that separates generated models into individual parts that can be printed and reassembled.

Dividing a complex 3D model into printable components is often one of the most difficult stages of the 3D printing process. Auto Split is designed to complete that work automatically by repairing surfaces, selecting concealed seam locations, and arranging the separated pieces on a print bed.

According to Meshy, each resulting part is created as a closed, watertight solid and can be reassembled into the original model. The company says the feature has been tested on physical 3D printers rather than evaluated solely through on-screen simulations.

Smart Topology and 8K Textures Expand Production Capabilities

Another newly released tool, Smart Topology, generates models with clean, structured geometry in approximately 10 seconds. Users can control the polygon count from 100 to 15,000, allowing models to be adapted for games, interactive websites and other real-time applications.

Meshy said Smart Topology improves generation speed, polygon control and overall geometry compared with its previous technology.

The company is also preparing to introduce 8K Texture, which will generate high-resolution textures with more detailed surfaces and accurate color reproduction. The feature is expected to roll out soon.

Meshy Expands Across Gaming, Design and 3D Printing

Meshy’s technology is already being used by teams at five of the world’s ten largest technology companies by market capitalization or valuation, according to the company.

Its customers and partners include game developers Nexon, NetEase Games and 37 Interactive Entertainment. Meshy also works with 3D printing brands such as Bambu Lab, Creality, Elegoo, FlashForge and xTool.

Other organizations using or collaborating with Meshy include fashion company Hugo Boss and Sweden’s museum of art and design.

With nearly $400 million in new funding, Meshy intends to continue reducing the technical and financial barriers associated with 3D creation.

Its long-term goal is to enable people to turn ideas into immersive digital and physical experiences without requiring traditional modeling expertise.
