Following a grand opening of McKenzie County Healthcare Systems’ newest medical facility, the hospital became the first in the North Dakota region to invest into Tru-D’s SmartUVC robot. It functions as a disinfecting system that is deployed after staff members clean a room using traditional protocols further reducing germs and hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).

The machine is operated remotely from outside the room being cleaned, administering a single dose of UVC energy that kills 99.9% of pathogens and germs left over from normal cleaning methods. The technology is validated by over 15 third-party studies, including the only randomized clinical trial on UVC disinfection. Already used in hundreds of hospitals across America, Tru-D SmartUVC CEO Chuck Dunn explained the hospital’s investment into the technology shows their commitment to reducing HAIs.

“We are excited to have this innovative technology in our hospital, which will help maintain the cleanest, safest environment possible for our patients and staff,” said Dan Kelly, the CEO of McKenzie County Healthcare Systems, Inc. “As a new facility in the region, we hope to offer best-in-class care and service for residents in the area, and Tru-D will help elevate the level of care that we provide.”

The robots will be part of a facility comprised of a brand-new clinic and hospital, with updates to a connected long-term care facility and assisted living center. Made of 24 inpatient rooms, nine emergency room bays, and two operating rooms, the new hospital stands ready to serve the residents of North Dakota as well as Montana with the latest in cutting-edge medical technology.
