Climate Tech Startup introduces sustainability product to accelerate move away from fossil fuels
Addressing the 20% of U.S. global warming emissions rising from homes, climate tech startup Quilt is launching in May an innovation that will make the management of the home environment significantly more efficient. The company’s breakthrough technology and $33 million in funding is the result of drawing top people from Google, Apple, Nest, and Tesla and the support of multiple climate tech venture capital firms.
Quilt’s advanced heat pump technology is “designed to blend seamlessly into any home environment, combined with intuitive room-by-room control, occupancy awareness, and predictive technology for unmatched energy efficiency and comfort”.
“The promise of the energy transition is that the future won’t just be sustainable – it will be much better,” said Paul Lambert, Co-founder and CEO, Quilt. “This promise has attracted world-class talent and investors to Quilt. Together, we’ve built the smartest way to heat and cool a home, for any homeowner who cares about comfort, control, design, or their energy bills.”
The funding round was co-led by Energy Impact Partners and Galvanize Climate Solutions, with participation from Lowercarbon Capital, Gradient Ventures, MCJ Collective, Garage Capital, and Incite Ventures. The funds will be used to launch in the Bay Area, followed by Los Angeles, and then expand into homes across the country.
Quilt touts its waitlist comprised of thousands of interested homeowners. They anticipate the benefits of the soon-to-launch all-electric, rebate-eligible, sophisticated home climate solution. The filling of such an important need brought together the venture capital firms and notable investor, and entrepreneur HGTV’s Property Brother Drew Scott.
“As someone who has spent years transforming homes and understanding homeowners’ needs, I’ve been eagerly waiting for a breakthrough like this,” said Scott. “Quilt is going to make a massive impact on how we heat and cool our homes and put the control back in the hands of the homeowner, making sure the future of home climate control is not just innovative, but also undeniably cool.”
Quilt is live-streaming the launch scheduled for May 15th at 9:30 am PCT with registration now open.
