A track record of successful investments positions the global firm to partner with top entrepreneurs across industries and geographies.

Observing emerging trends in the global startup ecosystem, Index Ventures announced the addition of $2.3 billion in new funds earmarked for disruptive and transformative businesses.

The convergence of AI, the abundance of skilled entrepreneurs, and known playbooks to build hypergrowth companies present founders with opportunities to create new, category-defining businesses that investors seek.

Index’s leadership sees AI rippling through industries—enhanced by thousands of people already experienced in hypergrowth startups.  They view this as a historical tipping point of a generational technology shift only just beginning.

“Even though technology has transformed our daily lives, the reality is that it has so much further to go,” said Index partner Shardul Shah. “AI alone will revolutionize virtually every sector of the economy and open up whole industries to venture that have remained virtually untouched.”

Index touts its three decades of investment success, noting that most of its partnerships are with founders that began early in a company’s life, at Seed and Series A. Their investments include 109 companies reaching $1 billion in valuation, 23 over a $10 billion valuation, and 57 with a public exit. Their portfolio companies account for over 200,000 jobs with more to come.

Combined with Index’s $300 million Origin seed fund, the firm is deploying $2.6 billion in capital to back founders from seed to IPO. Of the $2.3 billion in new funds, $800 million is for their venture fund and $1.5 billion for its growth fund—bringing the total capital raised by Index since its founding to $15 billion.

With the New York office recently opened, Index is positioned globally with offices also in San Francisco and Tel Aviv.  The New York office helps them expand from Europe and Israel across the US, covering ten time zones and 24 of the world’s 30 ecosystems.

In addition, Index is strengthening its US leadership with former Airbnb executive Vlad Loktev joining the San Francisco office. He was instrumental in driving Airbnb’s growth and product strategy for over a decade.

“We’re energized by the unique opportunities that this historical moment presents and excited to partner with founders to solve the world’s trickiest and most consequential problems,” said Shah.
