With women in Colorado occupying less than a third of STEM careers but making up 46% of the workforce, Galvanize and Colorado Technology Association have teamed up to offer full-tuition Women in Technology Scholarships to attend the Galvanize Web Development Immersive program. With 1.1 million jobs in computing projected to exist by 2024, both organizations believe that work needs to be done to include women in that figure.

“We can’t wait any longer to take action on our tech community’s commitment to diversity and inclusion,” explained Kelly Underell, the Colorado Technology Foundation at the Colorado Technology Association’s executive director. “We are thrilled to partner with Galvanize on this scholarship as one step towards our goal of building a skilled, diverse tech workforce in Colorado.”

Galvanize’s web development program runs for 24 weeks, hoping to transform students into sales engineers, product managers, full-stack developers, software engineers, or quality assurance engineers. In order to attend, applicants need to be accepted into the Galvanize Web Development Immersive by May 25th, and begin the program within 2018.

Numerous studies demonstrate the relationship between talent diversity and organizational success, giving the scholarships impact beyond the women earning it. They build a strong foundation for future communities and industry, while giving women the skills they need to enter leadership positions.
