Global creative good marketplace Etsy recently announced the launch of their brand-new Etsy Design Awards, to recognize extraordinarily creative people across the globe. Potential prizes in the competition include a trophy, $15,000 USD, and bundled business and marketing prizes. Interested creators and entrepreneurs have until May 28th, 2019 to submit their single vintage or handmade product item in one of five categories.
The competition categories are Inventive Décor, Signature Style, Festive Celebrations, Earth-Friendly, and Creative Collaborations. A panel of taste-makers and entrepreneurs including style expert Joe Zee, Etsy’s Trend Expert Dayna Isom Johnson, and interior designer Sophie Robinson judge each submission on their creativity, branding, quality, utility, personal story, and their “wow” factor.
“I’m thrilled to be joining some of the best in the business as a judge for the first-ever Etsies, and I am even more excited to uncover some of the highest-quality items on Etsy,” said Johnson in a press statement. “Our seller community is made up of some of the most talented and creative people in the world, and they deserve to be recognized. With so many incredibly unique and beautiful items on Etsy, this definitely won’t be an easy decision to make.”
Five winners, one for each product category, will be announced in September 2019, along with one grand prize winner. Through this competition Brooklyn, New York based Etsy strives to inspire people to engage in commerce that will empower them.
