Hey New Jersey Residents! Do you craft handmade products like jewelry or decorative home items? If so, Etsy and Rutgers’ Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development have collaborated to organize the perfect workshop to develop your ideas into an online shop of handmade items.
Until August 31, applications will be accepted for the Etsy Craft Entrepreneurship Workshop, which lasts from September 15 – October 10. Becky Garcia, a successful online crafts seller, will teach classes to help craft makers market and sell their products to a wider market. Selected participants will be coached on the most impactful selling factors including time management, branding, pricing, shipping, and photography techniques used to maximize sales. Students will have an opportunity to list and sell 20 items for free on Etsy.com.
Seats are limited and only 15 applicants will be selected to participate. Before submitting an application, be sure that you fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Have at least one handmade craft item ready to sell, and an idea for a related line of products.
- Commit to attending 2 hour evening sessions on Tuesdays from September 15 – October 6 and Saturday October 10 for 5 hours

- Have never made any sales* on Etsy.com
- Have a credit card and checking account (necessary for sales transactions)
- Have regular access to a computer with an Internet connection
*It is possible to have a store on Etsy.com but have never made sales.
