The official “Call for Entries” for the Consumer Technology Association’s CES 2018 Innovation Awards has extended its deadline for engineering and design company applicants until September 18th. Working to highlight the greatest consumer technology breakthroughs of the year, the awards are shared among 25 categories, including three newly established categories of Robotics, Smart Cities, and Cybersecurity for this year’s event.

The annual CES awards showcase breakthrough ideas throughout the global consumer technology industry, including innovations in wearable technologies, virtual reality, video displays, vehicle intelligence, smart homes, mobile apps, and software. CES is presented by the Consumer Technology Association, a trade association representing the American consumer technology industry and offering market research, industry promotion, and technical education to member companies.

Every category in the event is judged by a different three-member team made up of an independent engineer, a member of the trade media, and an independent industrial designer. The three of them judge each submission on how it compares to other products on the market, any unique or novel features, function and user value, design and aesthetic qualities, and engineering qualities.

The honorees in each category will be announced in November at the CES Unveiled New York event, while the products that win Best of Innovation are displayed at CES 2018 in January.
