A significant number of military personnel go on to own and manage franchises, as is the case with Woofie’s, which honors them on Veterans’ Day with a package that encourages ownership and increases franchise customers.

In recognition of Veterans Day, November 11, Woofie’s®, a leading pet-care franchise offering mobile pet grooming, dog walking, and pet sitting services, announced a package of discounts for military veterans.

The package offers a $5,000 discount on the Woofie’s franchise fee and a 10% discount on services at participating locations.

Woofie’s is the only franchise in the professional pet care industry to offer a full range of services, including pet sitting, dog walking, and mobile pet spa services. With 60 locations in 26 states, the company continues to expand nationwide.

From Military Service to Entrepreneurial Success

Woofie’s celebrates its veteran franchise owners who have turned their military experience into successful small businesses.

Mike LeMire and his wife, Heather. LeMire, who retired from the Army after 26 years, opened the first veteran-owned Woofies in East Louisville, Kentucky.  Mike credits his military background with providing the essential foundation for logistics, operations management, and leadership that has enabled him to be successful in business.

“With Woofie’s, I can combine my passion for animals with my commitment to serving the community,” said LeMire. “The support from the Woofie’s franchise team and our clients in greater Louisville has been incredible—it feels like being part of a family.”

U.S. Air Force veterans Arty and Jennifer Flecker recently opened a Woofie’s in Concord-Manchester, New Hampshire. Their shared service background has shaped a family-first approach, now involving their children in daily operations.

“Owning a Woofie’s has given our family the chance to work together while making a positive impact on our community,” said Jennifer Flecker. “The sense of purpose we found in the military continues here every day, helping pets and the people who love them.”

Veterans Excel in Business

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy, as of 2024, veterans are majority owners of over 1.6 million U.S. businesses.

Amy Addington, Woofie’s Co-Founder and President, attributes this success to qualities developed during military service, including teamwork, perseverance, and a mission-focused mindset.

“It’s an honor to work with military veterans,” said Addington. “Their discipline, leadership, and integrity make them natural entrepreneurs. Woofie’s ownership provides a meaningful next chapter—serving their local communities and pets while running their own business. We’re incredibly proud of the veterans in the Woofie’s family.”

Woofie’s is pleased to highlight other military Veterans who have joined the Woofie’s family.

Part of Military Makeover with Montel

Woofie’s will appear on the Lifetime TV series “Military Makeover with Montel,” hosted by Montel Williams, in early 2026. While the show renovates a military family’s home, Woofie’s will provide pet care for their dog.
