MassChallenge, self-described as the world’s friendliest start-up accelerator, is working to increase entrepreneurial support for women across the world.

“We want to empower all players in the global ecosystem to support entrepreneurs and share in the creative innovation they inspire,” according to their 2015 impact report.

MassChallenge has “historically supported a higher-than-average rate of female entrepreneurs” according to the MassChallenge blog. As noted in the blog, 39% of all participating MassChallenge startups had a minimum of one female founder and according to the impact report, in MassChallenge Boston alone, 44% of the 2015 startup finalists were founded by females.

To further support women MassChallenge established a number of initiatives to aid female entrepreneurs. Founded in 2013 by female MassChallege alumni, the Women in MassChallenge (WiMC) program is one these initiatives. According to the MassChallenge blog, WiMC provides a platform for female entrepreneurs, mentors and sponsors to come together and discuss challenges and opportunities of being a women in entrepreneurship and share their experiences.

On September 7th, 2016, WiMC is hosting their annual Women in MassChallenge Startup Showcase in Boston. The event serves as an opportunity to engage in a thoughtful conversation about women in entrepreneurship while female-founded businesses are showcased to the public.
