By combining 57,000 college students and the business community in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Tech Triangle (BTT) has formed a strategic plan to generate 61,000 jobs over the next two years. To gain the support and prep the tech community for this plan, the BTT will host the Entrepreneurship Symposium, a five-day series of events from March 4 – 8 at various locations around Brooklyn.
These events, aimed to educate the tech, creative and academic communities on technological advances that are ‘transforming traditional industries’, will kick-off with the Entrepreneurship Symposium from March 4-5 at NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. Â There, participants will discuss how tech is enhancing industries including education, fashion, manufacturing and media.
This keynote event, moderated by Manoush Zomorodi, WNYC’s New Tech city Host, will feature leaders of major companies and organizations in the BTT. The leaders that make up the ‘Tech All-Stars Panel’ include Scott Cohen, the Co-Founder of New Lab; Heather Fleming, the Senior Director of GILT; Laura Smith, the Vice-President of Amplify and more.
In addition to the aforementioned discussion, the symposium will include events that explore ways to implement creative arts in tech fields, organizations that are activating social change and how companies can take advantage of the growing video gaming industry to grow their businesses.
From March 5-6, career events will be held to educate students on becoming considerable candidates for entrepreneurial careers. On both days, open office tours will be given at various locations to expose students and recent grads to the culture and requirements of working in the entrepreneurial field.
The Symposium ends with the second annual student-mentor hackathon from March 5-8 which will allow students interested in owning their own tech businesses to network, build a team and get a head-start in developing their business ideas.
All BTT events must be individually registered for and space is extremely limited for open office tours. For more details and to register for these events, visit http://brooklyntechtriangle.com/tech-u/
