The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) announced their Entrepreneurship and Innovation Challenge for female STEM professionals in New Jersey, accepting applications until January 1st in 2018.  The Challenge focuses on female entrepreneurs who plan to lead or already lead an entrepreneurial venture that meet its two categories for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Focused on tackling the challenges faced by females in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields, AWIS holds monthly events based on career development and scientific presentations. The latest challenge also includes access to the AWIS Accelerator, with selected strong applicants having access to 10 months of instructional, technical, and mentorship support.

The two categories for the challenge accept applications from different groups, with the Innovation category seeking female-led groups or schools and colleges in New Jersey, while the Entrepreneurship category is for female STEM professionals that have graduated. Either category requires an executive summary of a business plan with the application.

Applications are judged based on well-defined goals, strength of vision, availability of management and skill sets, development of competitive advantages, plans sustainability and growth, an understanding of the market, and the innovation level of the product or service.
