Fieldbit, a developer of real-time knowledge capture and augmented reality solutions for field services, passed a significant milestone via the increased deployment of its’ Fieldbit Hero smart goggles within BP’s Lower 48 onshore natural gas and oil business. In the months that the technology operated at BP sites, there were noted improvements in efficiency and safety, as well as reductions in travel expenses, production losses, and downtime, according to a recent press release.
Fieldbit Hero uses a real-time video feed to enable collaboration between technicians in the field and experts in the control room. The headset enables experts to send visuals and data to the technician, while capturing and saving information during the service process for reuse within an organization.
Through Fieldbit Hero, on-the-job training times reduce up to 40%, with a 30% improvement in first time fix rates, a 20% increase in service profitability, and a 50% improvement in remote resolution rates. Additionally, Fieldbit’s secure web portal allows flexibility in the communication between technician and expert through Fieldbit Hero, ODG R7 smart glasses, or mobile devices.
Evyatar Meiron, Fieldbit’s CEO, spoke about this wide-scale adoption of the Fieldbit Hero technology, “We are delighted to expand the scope of our business collaboration with BP, a recognized leader in the global oil and gas industry. We are committed to providing BP with the cutting-edge technology it needs to streamline field service operations and enhance the knowledge and capabilities of field technicians.”
Founded in 2014 Fieldbit’s most recent milestone follows the company’s recognition as a ‘winning startup’ during ENGIE’s international Innovation Week last year.
