Smart city intelligence startup CARMERA received both the “Startup of the Year and Best in Show Awards” at the inaugural PlanetM Awards, part of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan, running from January 13th through the 28th.
Brooklyn, New York based CARMERA automates cities by providing a robust real-time, street-level intelligence platform. Its real-time 3D maps and navigation data for use in autonomous vehicles was also recognized in the category award for Autonomous Driving.
The PlantM Awards were sponsored by AutoMobili-D, an exposition focusing on the global automotive and mobility landscape, and PlanetM, part of Michigan’s Economic Development Corporation, to bring attention to the state’s transformation into an epicenter for mobility technology. PlanetM is a partnership of mobility organizations providing a no-cost service that facilitates connections to Michigan’s automotive ecosystem — specifically to those dedicated to the evolution of transportation mobility. It includes mobility organizations, communities, educational institutions, research and development, and government agencies developing mobility technologies. ,
CARMERA CEO, Ro Gupta, talked about receiving multiple awards and the support the company received to gain such recognition in a recent statement, saying the company was, “…grateful to our first institutional partners in one of the most welcoming areas of the world for what we do, and couldn’t be happier to be the resident autonomous vehicle mapping company at both University of Michigan’s TechLab/Mcity and Michigan State University’s CANVAS Lab.”
