The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference opened its voting polls from August 7th to 25th that help determine the panels and programming making up the next SXSW Conferences. During this period, the Rutgers Business School of Newark and New Brunswick’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (CUEED) is asking for votes to ensure its panel is included.

Rutgers CUEED integrates scholarly works with government, private capital, and non-profit sectors to achieve economic growth via urban entrepreneurship. Its panel for SXSW focuses on three main questions as to how individuals can reduce time spent on “low-value” tasks by using technology so they can instead perform the tasks they are passionate about.

Although audience votes are a factor in deciding which panels appear in the SXSW program, it is only 30% of the total vote. Another 30% is decided by SXSW staff, focused on balancing the event between new and veteran speakers, while the SXSW Advisory Board accounts for the remaining 40% of votes.

The panelists for the program, if accepted, are Rutgers Business School Managing Director Jasmine Cordero, Smart Hustle Founder Ramon Ray, and the Assistant Director of Entrepreneurship Programs at Rutgers Business School Alfred Blake. Blake is also serving as the panel’s organizer.
