Combating critical challenges faced by large cities including population growth, climate change and congestion; IEEE has announced that it will host the inaugural International Smart Cities Conference (ISC2) in Guadalajara, Mexico. From October 25-28, the event will include sessions focused on the investments needed to carry out solutions for sustainable economic development.

Covering topics including smart city modeling, intelligent infrastructure, smart traffic systems and more; the conference will include words from IEEE executives and distinguished environmental advocates including: Roberto Saracco, IEEE senior member, president and node director, EIT Italy; Charles G. Sheridan, co-director of Intel Labs Energy and Sustainability Lab; Wanda Reder, IEEE fellow, vice president, S&C Electric Company; Steve Adler, IEEE senior member, IBM Chief Information Strategist; Roberto De Marca, IEEE fellow and 2015 IEEE past president; and Derrick De Kerckhove, former director of McLuhan Program.

In addition to being a source of insight from leading developers of sustainability solutions, the conference also serves as a forum enabling environmentalists to exchange practices and ideas. Using information and sensing technology, these ideas will be transformed into opportunities to enhance citizen engagement, quality-of-life, manufacturing efficiency, economic development and environmental sustainability – ultimately develop the world’s metropolitan areas into “smart cities”.

Registration for Early Bird Rates applies through September 13th.
