National Small Business Week Nominations due January 17, 2014
The U.S. Small Business Administration’s New York District Office is asking New Yorkers to highlight outstanding small businesses through nominations for National Small Business Week 2014. The annual awards celebrate exceptional small business performance in various arenas. Honors include the Phoenix Award, which is granted for superior accomplishments during disaster recovery, and the Small Business Person of the Year Award, among other titles.

Nominations may be submitted by any individual or by organizations such as professional and trade associations, business organizations, chambers of commerce, banks, or a small business’ employees.
Since 1963, National Small Business Week has recognized the outstanding achievements of America’s small businesses for their contributions to their local communities and to the nation’s economy. Local award winners will be invited to Washington, D.C. to celebrate National Small Business Week. The National Small Business Person of the Year will be chosen from the group, in recognition of a small business owner whose company has demonstrated staying power, growth in employment, substantial increase in sales/unit volume, innovation, response to adversity, contributions to his/her community.
Champion awards are also presented to those who have used their professional skills or personal talents to further public understanding and awareness of small businesses. Categories include Minority Small Business Champion, Veteran Small Business Champion, Small Business Exporter of the Year, Young Entrepreneur Award, and Women Small Business Champion of the Year.
