National non-profit digital media organization Latinas in Business Inc. continues its mission to promote the economic empowerment of Latinas and other minority women entrepreneurs through its recent announcement of the 2021 Small Business Champion. In addition 11 other Latina Leaders with the Champion honoree are being recognized for their efforts at the upcoming Latinas in Business Women Entrepreneurs Empowerment Summit on June 10th.
“Latinas and other women entrepreneurs are a striking force in the US economy; and a powerful market,” said Susana G Baumann, CEO and President of Latinas in Business Inc. “They cannot be left behind. Recognizing that power and their constant efforts to build businesses and community around them is our mission.”
Wendy Garcia, the Chief Diversity Officer for the NYC Office of the Comptroller Scott Stringer, took home the principal award and title of 2021 Small Business Champion. Her work as the Chief Diversity Officer puts her in direct control of increasing contracting opportunities for Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs). She also performs additional duties, managing the office’s internal supplier diversity initiative, and the other diversity projects throughout the agency’s bureaus.
The 11 additional leaders include Damaris Diaz, TV personality at Univision; Claudia Vazquez, from Prudential Financial; Albania Rosario, of the Fashion Designers of Latin America; Veronica Sosa, from SHEmprendedoras; Alicia Puig of PXP Contemporary; community leader Beth Marmolejos; Maria Piastre, from Metallix Refining; Mariela Dabbah from Red Shoe Movement; TV personality Maria Elena Salinas; Maria Noel Vaeza, Regional Director for Latin America and the Carribean ONU Mujeres; and the late Jessica Asencio.
Each of the Latina and Minority women entrepreneurs and Leaders have or will appear on the cover of the LatinasinBusiness.us magazine.
