The company’s enterprise browser is a breakthrough innovation that embeds enterprise-grade security and IT controls directly into the browsing experience.
In a significant milestone for the cybersecurity and enterprise software space, Island—the company behind the rapidly emerging Enterprise Browser—has announced the successful close of its $250 million Series E funding round. This latest raise propels the company’s valuation to an impressive $4.8 billion, achieved in under five years since its founding in 2020.
The funding round was led by Coatue Management, with continued participation from several of Island’s existing investors. With this new capital, Island has now raised approximately $730 million to date, indicating the confidence investors have in its transformative technology and market trajectory.
Reinventing the Enterprise Browser
Island’s core innovation lies in its reimagining of the web browser—not as a passive consumer tool, but as an active enabler of enterprise security, productivity, and IT efficiency.
Traditional browsers were not designed with enterprise needs in mind, leaving companies to cobble together complex solutions for compliance, data protection, and secure access. Island’s Enterprise Browser addresses these challenges head-on by embedding enterprise-grade security and IT controls directly into the browsing experience.
“The Enterprise Browser upgrades web browsers from a dedicated consumer software package to an enterprise-ready solution,” said Mike Fey, Island’s CEO and Co-founder. “It improves productivity, simplifies the IT stack, reduces complexity, and embeds security.”
Since emerging from stealth mode in early 2022, Island has scaled rapidly. The company now boasts over 500 employees, with more than 200 focused on product development and engineering. Island has already secured 450 customers across sectors, and its annual recurring revenue has more than doubled each year, a testament to its market demand and customer value.
Enterprise-Grade Solution for a Modern IT Landscape
The Island Enterprise Browser empowers organizations to reimagine how secure work is conducted in a digital-first world. Built on the familiar Chromium platform, the browser delivers a seamless user experience while integrating sophisticated security capabilities.
IT departments gain granular control over browser activity, including comprehensive logging and auditing, all while preserving personal user privacy. Security teams benefit from a secure-by-design architecture that prevents data leaks and defends against sophisticated threats. Meanwhile, employees enjoy a high-performance, intuitive browser environment optimized for productivity.
Dan Amiga, Island’s CTO and Co-founder, emphasized the importance of customer collaboration in building the product: “Creating and growing a new category requires deep technical partnerships and maximum trust between CIOs, CISOs, and product teams. Our customers’ input has been invaluable to securing their sensitive data, eliminating IT inefficiencies, and making IT work best for end users.”
A Platform for All Industries
Island’s product is already being used across a wide array of industries, including finance, government, higher education, manufacturing, hospitality, and retail. Customers range from Fortune 1000 companies to small and midsize businesses and public sector institutions.
Organizations are leveraging Island’s Enterprise Browser to securely access SaaS and web apps, implement zero-trust network access policies, onboard third-party contractors in minutes, support merger and acquisition integrations, and reduce or even replace their reliance on expensive virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). The solution is particularly suited to bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environments, where security concerns have historically hindered productivity.
As David Schneider, General Partner at Coatue, noted, “Island’s world-class executive team has continued to deliver a product that drives immense value for enterprise executives and end users alike. As AI adoption continues to accelerate, Island is helping establish a new industry standard. Companies of all sizes should now rely on secure environments like Island to remain competitive and protect their operations.”
Positioned for the Future
With its latest round of funding, Island plans to further scale its engineering capabilities and talent base to meet growing enterprise demand. The company will continue to invest in enhancing its product, expanding global operations, and driving adoption across new markets and verticals.
Island’s ascent is not just a story of capital raised, but of a paradigm shift in how enterprises secure and deliver digital work. By transforming the browser into a secure, controlled, and optimized workspace, Island is not merely improving IT systems—it’s redefining them.
With a vision that aligns closely with the evolving demands of modern enterprises, and a product that delivers tangible benefits across the IT, security, and user experience spectrum, Island stands poised to lead a new category of enterprise infrastructure.
