Described as the company “capable of the impossible” by New York Times, NYC-based Tusk Ventures has officially launched its operations. Formerly Tusk Strategies, the company fought and defeated local restrictions and policies aimed to prevent Uber’s growth into a $51 billion unicorn reaching markets across the United States. With offices in New York, Chicago and Miami; Tusk Ventures is prepared to select 10-12 startups each year to guide through political, regulatory and media issues in heavily regulated markets in exchange for equity.

After spending four years providing regulatory efforts for Uber’s ever-growing list of markets, Tusk Strategies emerged into Tusk Ventures with an expanded team of experts in local, state and national policy. The company is already working with Uber, General Assembly and Zendrive while being led by Bradley Tusk who previously served as Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s campaign manager, Deputy Governor of Illinois, Communications Director for U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer and Special Assistant to Mayor Bloomberg.

“The next generation of great tech-enabled startups are more likely to emerge in industries where government plays an active role as a regulator and where existing companies maintain close and longstanding relationships with elected officials,” said Bradley Tusk, Tusk Ventures’ founder and CEO. “If startups can’t handle the coming fights on the political, regulatory and media side, they’ll have a very hard time succeeding. That’s where we come in.”

The team at Tusk Ventures is comprised of experts in the investment & policy sectors who’ve worked for prestigious companies, organizations and agencies including including Google, Blackstone, J.P. Morgan, the National Division at the Department of Justice and several more.
