On January 31st, 2017, the Internet of Things (IoT) Community comprised of over 19,000 members announced the launch of its inaugural live in-person event, IoT Slam® Live that follows the IoT Community’s five international online conferences. Taking place in the Archie K Davis Conference Center, located within Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, the conference will be held from June 21-22, 2017. It will bring together the top IoT professionals and CxO’s from around the country and the world, focusing on the adoption and application of IoT in commercial environments.

Speaking for the IoT community, Bill Mortimer, Executive Vice President, Strategic Marketing at Spirent Communications, and Chairman of the IoT Slam® Conference and the Internet of Things Community Advisory Board, stated, “We embark on what will be a defining year for the IoT and our Internet of Things Community’s role in providing a platform for IoT thought leaders to collaborate and partner to fulfil the promise of the IoT.”

Headline sponsor IBM is supporting a unique and extraordinary platform for IoT practitioners across all industries, according to the event’s press release. The event will attract professionals who use IoT in their respective fields and will give them access to special event delegates and groundbreaking IoT solutions, technologies, and companies. Core themes include standards, interoperability and integration, security and privacy, as well as many others.

The conference will have a hybrid format, with the in-person live conference taking place as scheduled while key proceedings will be broadcasted via the Internet to members of the IoT community across the world. Those interested in the event should be on the lookout as David Hill, Executive Director of the Internet of Things Community stated “we plan to announce further key industry initiatives in the coming weeks as we gear up to what many see will be a defining year for the IoT space.”

Enterprises and IoT providers are encouraged to submit speaker proposals in order to be given the opportunity to address the community at the conference and elaborate on how they are successfully using the Internet of Things in a transformative way. Proposals may be submitted at the following link: http://www.iotslam.com/submit-paper, with a deadline of March 31st, 2017. Priority is given to earlier submissions that are highly compelling.
