Packsize announced a first-of-its-kind robot that automates the bulk of the manual work done on an on-demand packaging line. Called PackBot, the scalable industrial service robot includes PackNet’s optimization and production software platform that was debuted at Europe’s Competence Center Packaging in Langenberg this week.
“Consumer preference for sustainably packaged products is driving industry focus on packaging optimization, along with manufacturers and distribution center managers who find it increasingly difficult to fulfill manual labor requirements,” said Niklas Pettersson, Chief Scientist at Packsize in a press announcement. “Through our continued emphasis on sustainable formats and automation, this platform’s patented box-erecting process is a true game-changer for On Demand Packaging systems.”
The new robot is the latest addition to Packsize’s smart packaging systems and custom box-making machines. Delivering on the company’s GMA’s promise for rapid machine development, the machine is built with a modular engineering approach that enables it to be tailored to customer requirements. It also addresses several concerns occurring in manufacturing and fulfillment ranging from reliability to throughput, as well as labor shortages.
