Marketing research firm Navigant Research has reported that they expect significant growth of smart management technologies between 2015 and 2024. The market will reach $23.8 billion in this period. This report takes in account the technologies such as street lighting, urban mobility, waste collection, and public safety which are all utilizing the data found from mobile devices and social networking.

It is predicted by Navigant Research that by 2024, the intersection of web and global technology into streets will become ubiquitous. Technologies such as smart-street lighting, connected vehicles, smart buildings are rapidly being adapted onto streets across the country.

Research director Eric Woods from Navigant Research says that “streets are no longer just a point of physical connection, but also a point of virtual connection to a wide range of service providers and information sources.” Because of the rise of hand-held devices and internet, the streets have become a large source of information and data on what is happening. This information has been collected and can be used by city governments to better manage the streets.

This information is available in the report Street Smart Management which studies the global market for street smart management technologies and the various uses they offer. The report also looks at city case studies and competitive landscapes in relation to smart technologies in streets.
