Drawing from over 1,000 organizations across the globe, the 54th Design Automation Conference will be held at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas from June 18-22, 2017. The Conference is considered the foremost event devoted to the design and automation of electronic systems and is seeking nominations for its Marie R. Pistilli Women in Engineering Achievement AwardApplications will be accepted up until 5:00 PM, MST, March 3rd, 2017.

The award celebrates an individual who has contributed to the growth of women in the electronics industry and serves as a means to “carry on Marie Pistilli’s legacy through the prestigious award named in her honor” as described by Worldwide Women in Electronic Design (WWED) Chairperson McKenzie Ross of OneSpin Solutions. This year’s honoree (to be announced before the DAC is held) will be presented with the award at the 54th DAC General/Opening Session on Monday, June 19th, 2017.

Marie R. Pistilli Women in Engineering Achievement Award may be awarded to an individual of various backgrounds. Regardless of being a man or a woman, working in the industry or academia, or possessing a technical or non-technical background, qualified candidates are eligible to receive the award. Past honorees have successfully contributed to projects that involved women, or have made noticeable strides in creating opportunities for women in the electronics field. Winners in the past have also been leaders who raised awareness and recognition of women in the industry, as well as been mentors and role models for well-recognized women in engineering. 

Award winners have been “individuals who shine as examples of innovation, ethics, mentorship, and accomplishment”, stated by McKenzie Ross. This year’s DAC marks the 18th time the award is being given, and a full list of past award winners can be found on the conference’s website.
