The Fashion Tech Consortium Advanced Accelerator based in New York City is working to revolutionize the global fashion and retail industries with the aid of innovative technology. Placing focus on the convergence of designers, brands & global retailers with emerging technologies, the Consortium’s goal is to impact the traditional manufacturing supply chain in the areas of: Design, Manufacturing, Distribution and Sales.
As a global partnership of fashion, technology and retail industry member institutions, the Consortium is pushing the fashion industry toward an “Industrial Revolution”, according to its web site.
The Accelerator is led by founder Michael B. Reidbord, former CEO and president of Blue Dasher Technologies, founder of Brilliant Asia Corp, Principal Charles Kaliman, a merchandising manager at Macy’s Product Development, sourcing director at Sears Holding, supply chain specialist and retail merchandiser, and Principal Marc Naddell, Vice President of Ecosystems at MediaTek and ecosystem builder for cloud, IoT and mobility.
“The retail/fashion sector is struggling because they are not providing an engaging, compelling and enjoyable customer experience equal to what is now received online,” notes their website, when describing the current state of the retail and fashion industry. “Additionally, manufacturers need to gain greater efficiency and implement new solutions that will shrink the supply chain and allow for faster delivery of more desirable products.”
By leveraging technologies like visual recognition, post-sale tracking, ultrasonic sewing, robotics, digital mapping, AI, and 3D scanning at all levels of the supply chain, the accelerator is seeking to lower the time it takes goods to move from design to the important sales phase.
