Intelligent Waves, a veteran owned professional services small business, was just named Industry Innovator in the 2018 Government Innovation Awards for their work in building the virtual mobile platform, Hypori. The Innovator award is given to companies that strengthen the government Information Technology (IT) sector through broader contribution as in Hypori’s case, protecting government used devices from hackers.

Acquired by Intelligent Waves in 2017, Hypori is an advanced mobile platform that strengthens the command and control capabilities in federal, intelligence, and military units. Hypori enables enterprises and units to share information to their community’s devices virtually, a method less susceptible to hackers than the previous one of storing data physically on the mobile device.

The Government Awards celebrate government projects, individual agents, and industry partners that enhance public sector IT. Industry Innovators is one of three awards presented at the event.

Another award, the Public-Sector Innovations, is given to various offices that work to develop new technology or enhance existing ones that can improve the government at a federal, state, or local level. These awardees include NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab for their JPL Open Source Rover and the US Army Cyber Command for their Cyber Direct Commissioning Program.

The third award, called Rising Star, is given to individuals who are early on in their government-focused careers, but already showing enough talent and potential to receive recognition. Included in these are Captain Keely J. Carrigan, an Operations Officer in the US Air Force and Daisy O’James, a Project Manager for Custom and Border Protection.

Stating how proud Intelligent Waves is to receive an award for Industry Innovators, Matthew Stern, chief information security officer and vice president, noted that the award “recognizes our leading efforts in introducing trailblazing technologies that will solve the mobility challenges faced by our government.”

All awardees will be honored in person at the Government Innovation Awards Dinner on November 8th at the Ritz-Carlson Tysons Corner.
