The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USABE) awarded Dr. K. Mark Weaver the Max Wortman Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award this past weekend at its annual conference held in Tampa, Florida. The conference was on the campus of the University of Tampa from January 22nd through the 25th.
USASBE, an independent academic organization dedicated to advancing the discipline of entrepreneurship, selected Weaver as the recipient for his -storied and impactful- 42-year career in academia, according to the organizations post event newsletter.
-Marks impact on the field is quite noteworthy, and Marks been a longtime supporter of USASBE,- said Chuck Matthews, a personal friend of the awards namesake.
Weaver, a former USASBE president, is credited with helping to legitimize entrepreneurship as an academic discipline. In addition to acting as a mentor to current USASBE leadership, he has also worked to implement programs at Alabama University, Rowan University, Louisiana State University and the University of South Alabama.
