The Seton Hall University Center for Entrepreneurial Studies recently welcomed a group of entrepreneurs from Shanghai who were among the first graduates of the Stillman School of Business Executive MBA program in China. As part of the graduation festivities in May 2013, the Center’s Board of Advisor members John Auriemma, President of American Wear, based in East Orange, and Bill Bartzak, President and CEO of MD On-Line, with headquarters in Parsippany, hosted tours of their companies. The tours were arranged by Board member Dr. Jason Yin and Susan Scherreik, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, and with the support of Dean Joyce Strawser.
At American Wear, all employees wore T-shirts designed in honor of the Executive MBA students’ visits. The level of energy and excitement was very high for both the EBA students and the staff at American Wear during the plant tour and luncheon. John Auriemma was impressed with the students’ entrepreneurial spirit and the level of success that they have achieved in China. “We engaged in a meaningful dialogue about entrepreneurship in both the United States and China and they were eager to learn about how I expanded my business. In spite of the vast differences in our cultures, we had much in common. I found the students to be warm, respectful and gracious”.
At the luncheon, Mr. Huichen Xu, President of Heavylong Group Inc. in Shanghai, and a member of the EMBA graduating class, presented the Center with a generous donationa check for $30,000. Several members of the Executive MBA class in China are successful entrepreneurs with large companies. As a result of the great success of their visit, the Stillman School of Business is exploring a reciprocal visit of their Board members and other entrepreneurs to China.
