Speaker applications are now open for the seventh annual TEDxAsburyPark, an independently organized TED event, happening on May 18th, 2019. Applicants with an idea encompassing CHAOS, “the void, the absurd, the mess, the mystery,” can apply by December 15, 2018 to showcase their story at this all day conference taking place at the Paramount Theatre.
These local TEDx events parallel the nationally known TED Conferences, but use a local volunteer base of over 100 businesses, nonprofit leaders, professionals, and university students who plan and manage the day. Applications are also open for volunteers with experience in writing, photography, or design.
A TEDx Talk is an observation or idea delivered in 18 minutes or less that is factual and presents a good argument to draw larger conclusions. Speakers come from a wide range of careers, including business, performance art, and social activism. Perhaps most importantly, and heavily emphasized on the application, is that speakers are very knowledgeable about their respective topics and do not present misleading or false facts.
Early bird tickets are available now and selling for $100, which includes lunch with the speakers and access to the after party.
