Newark Mayor Ras Baraka provided closing remarks at the Voice Summit last week that was held over three days on the NJIT campus. The Summit, promoted as the largest voice tech conference, brought together the conversational design ecosystem comprised of industry experts, developers, entrepreneurs, instructors and academics.
Sponsored by Amazon Alexa, Voice drew close to 3,000 tech attendees, far exceeding initial goals set for the event. It showcased Newark, New Jersey as an emerging smart city with a growing entrepreneurial tech community. Attendees came from all across the U.S., as well as other countries, to be part of an immersive experience in one of the hottest technology areas today. NJIT’s recently built Wellness and Events Center was ground zero, while attendees dispersed over the campus throughout the day to attend training sessions and talks by industry leaders.
Newark’s immediate proximity to an international airport, NJIT’s tech focus, and New York City being a stone’s throw away contributed to the event’s success. The 150 speakers, key sponsors and 60 plus promotional partners drew in the tech base that focuses on the 33 million plus voice first devices in the U.S. (VoiceLabs) at a time when over 80% of developers worldwide are embracing AI (stack overflow).
Host Modev is a community of more than 25,000 software developers and executives that focuses on transformative technologies. It organizes “communities and events where there is a need to bring the right people and technologies together to advance as individuals and organizations.”
