After reaching its Kickstarter funding goal in less than 12 hours, Lima, an award-winning storage technology company, has raised over $1.2M from 12,840 backers. The crowdfunding project, as well as a $2.5M investment from Partech Ventures, has aligned Lima to announce the shipment of this new product expected to eliminate storage leaders including Dropbox, iCloud and Google Drive.
Described by Partech Ventures as “one of the most ambitious products [they]’ve seen in the last decade”, Lima allows users to synchronize their computers, tablets and smartphones, even with various storage capacities. By storing content in Lima rather than the devices’ local hard drive, users can save content beyond the storage limits of their devices and access it anywhere.
The technology behind Lima not only provides additional storage space, but also increases privacy, affordability, and simplicity in ways that have yet to be addressed by other storage applications. Using the Lima adapter and external hard drive, users benefit from the privacy and security of using a Private Cloud. This additional tool makes content inaccessible to third parties, eliminating the cost of the cloud services previously required to synchronize devices and protect content.
By keeping a consistent order of files and folders, Lima simplifies the search for specific files and prevents file duplicates. Aiming to make use of Lima “deceptively simple”, the seamless synchronization of all devices also eliminates the pressure of managing storage capacity and device compatibility.
Though research and development of Lima lasted a year longer than expected, the company has expressed excitement to release a product using advanced technology. “It is always hard to quantify the development time of something that has never been done before. We faced big obstacles when developing our core technology,’ said Severin Marcombes, CEO. “However, today is marking an incredible milestone for us. The technology we’ve built is now ready for prime time and we can proudly claim that Lima innovation is far ahead of the competition.”
