Rope Swing Hops Farm in Newton, New Jersey, a family-owned hops farm for home and craft beer brewers, wants to bring quality hops to local brewers in Northern New Jersey via a Kickstarter campaign.
Though the family of farmers, craftsmen and home brewers has been living off its 50-acre plot since 1982, following a simple creed of living off the land sustainably, the Ludwigs only recently constructed a hop yard with the goal of providing locally-sourced product to the area, according to the Rope Swing Hops Kickstarter page.
With 24 days left in its Kickstarter campaign, Rope Swing Hops hopes to reach its $5,000 goal to triple its number of hop plants, which requires building an irrigation system, additional plants and hardware to install new poles. So far, the team is nearly half-way to its goal.
The 300 plants currently being propagated at Rope Swing Hops are growing quickly as the Ludwig family works hard to keep them watered with the natural streams and creeks in Newton.
