This year, Startup World Cup held their 2017 startup pitch competition, giving startups the world over a chance to win a $1,000,000 investment grand prize. Now, the competition has opened applications for their 2018 competition, and another chance to win the $1,000,000 prize.
The competition, despite only moving into its second year, had very big names in attendance for the 2017 Grand Finale, including Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak, Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian, and had seasoned investors from 500 Startups, Kleiner Perkins, GE Ventures, and others as judges.
In addition to the $1,000,000 investment prize, winners of this year’s 15 regional championships won $10,000 in legal services from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP as well as a Portfolio Package from Salesforce for Startups.
Thanks in part due to the increased number of inquiries from new regions, the 2018 competition is expanding from 15 regions to 20, while also searching for new media and regional partners. Although the event is not scheduled to take place until May 2018, applications are due this year, with exact deadlines differing between regions.
