New York Applications Due February 9th; Competition set for February 23rd
Attention all hardware startup companies: AlphaLab Gear is now accepting applications for its annual Hardware Cup. The Hardware Cup is a national competition searching for the next wave of innovative hardware products.
Six applicants will be chosen from each of the nine participating cities to compete for a $1,000 cash prize. Applicants will present four-minute pitches to a panel of judges that include CEOs and investors in the hardware field. Participating cities include New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Austin, Los Angeles, San Jose, Chicago, Ann Arbor and Pittsburg. In addition to the cash prize, winners will receive a one-year membership to TechShop.
Winning startups from each city will compete with each other for the national grand prize. The national Hardware Cup winner will be awarded a $50,000 convertible-debt investment from Startbot VC, a firm that provides venture capital funding to early-stage robotics companies.
Applications for the New York Hardware Cup are due February 9 and the New York event will take place on February 23. Startups that have created at least one physical product are eligible to apply.
