From June 15 – 18, the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) will hold the 2015 BIO International Convention, the world’s largest gathering of the biotechnology, industry in Philadelphia. There, they will announce the winners of the Everyday Superhero Contest. This is an opportunity for accomplished biotech leaders in the patient, industry and academic communities to be recognized.
From now until March 5, BIO will accept nominations of biotech leaders who are impacting disease treatment in at least one of three categories: Patient/Patient Group, Pharma/Biotech and University/Research institutions.
Potential nominees include, but are not limited to: a graduate student whose lab work has led to innovative disease treatment, a patient whose persistence and dedication has led to special attention to the research conducted to combat their disease or a researcher at a start-up biotech whose revolutionary science led to a therapy that will save lives.
“Every day, countless men and women are working tirelessly to heal, fuel and feed the world using the tools of biotechnology. Our goal with the Everyday Superhero contest is to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of these unsung heroes,” said Scott Whitaker, President of the BIO International Convention. “I encourage everyone to help us recognize those achievements by nominating their everyday heroes in the patient, industry, and academic communities.”
The winners will be chosen by majority vote by March 31 and recognized throughout the convention in an email announcement to the BIO 2015 community, comprised of representatives of biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centers and related organizations in over 30 nations.
The winners will also be recognized through promotion on all BIO social media outlets including a blog post on BIOtech-Now; VIP access to keynotes, parties and more; a Buzz Center video interview and a featured article in the BIO Buzz Official Show Daily.
To submit a nomination, you must, in 500 words or less, explain what makes them a biotech superhero. For full details on the contest, please visit: http://convention.bio.org/superhero/
In addition to the contest, the convention will also include education programs featuring keynote luncheons and sessions on the industry’s most timely topics. Networking events will be held each evening including a welcome reception for all registrants, exhibitor hospitality receptions open to all attendees and a career fair that students can attend for free.
