Two companies were chosen as “Most Buzzworthy” in an elite competition run by the BIO CEO & Investor Conference Buzz of Bio. BIO, the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, is the word’s largest biotech trade association. The company will honor the contest winners at their 18th annual conference on February 8 and 9 in New York City.

The contest featured 20 nominees and included the world’s most innovative biotech companies. Voting took place online to determine two awards: “The Most Buzzworthy Private Company” and “The Most Buzzworthy Public Company.”

Voters awarded Biothera Pharmaceutical, Inc. with the “The Most Buzzworthy Private Company.” Biothera is an oncology company that has created a cancer-prevention drug called Imprime PGG. The investigational drug reportedly triggers the body’s immune system to work in combination with other cancer immunotherapy drugs.

The award for “Most Buzzworthy Public Company” goes to StemCells, Inc., which has created a platform to fight central nervous system diseases through neural stem cells called HuCNS-SC.

The two winners will receive registration for the 18th Annual BIO CEO & Investor Conference and a chance to present their company at the esteemed event, which will give them the opportunity to impress industry leaders and potential investors.
