The National Week of Making begins this Friday, June 17, with a kickoff in the nation’s capital. The week looks to celebrate and bring together tinkerers, innovators and entrepreneurs across the United States. Throughout the week, the White House will give special recognition to prominent individuals within the entrepreneurial and innovation community, while also announcing new initiatives by organizations supporting this community.

The week will explore topics in small business, leadership, technology and much more that is intended to draw in the participation of a diverse group of attendees.

“I am truly inspired by the amazing folks in the maker movement doing fantastic work all over the country day-in and day-out,” stated Senior Advisor for Making, Andrew Coy.

The Week will close with the 3rd National Maker Faire, which will take place at the University of the District of Columbia. The National Maker Faire, a free and open event, will allow entrepreneurs from the D.C. area and all around the nation to further showcase their small businesses and innovations in the heart of the nation.

“It truly is a movement that shows how much we are a Nation of Makers,” claimed Andrew Coy about the event.
