Touting “Minnesota’s -Medical Alley’ region as an area globally renowned for innovation in medical technology and health care delivery,“ Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) Minneapolis with the help of a proclamation by Governor Mark Dayton, announced they will be partnering with LifeScience Alley to hold the first ever Minnesota MedTech Week. The event will take place November 2-6 in recognition of the outstanding contributions the region has made towards healthcare and medical technology. In addition to LifeScience Alley, UBM and Medical Design & Manufacturing have also partnered on the venture.
According to an earlier press release, Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith with be opening MedTech Week expo hall on Nov. 4 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. With more than 5,000 people expected to be in attendance, it is anticipated to be one of the biggest events for MedTech personnel in the Midwest. The hall will feature both local and national companies showcasing their technology dedicated to the advancement of medical science.
With the highest concentration of medical technology firms in the United States, MedTech week is reported to have the potential to expand the already 35,000 employee pool for the companies. Smith is quoted, saying, “Minnesota medical technology companies are among the most inventive in the world – with patent filing rates that beat competitors from around the world. Not only are these firms making life better for patients, they also are supporting thousands of high-quality Minnesota jobs.”
The event will also provide networking opportunities, and access to leadership in the MedTech profession. The main opening and all co-sponsored events will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center November 4-5, 2015.
