Workplace safety is taking a big step forward with the recent funding of an innovative wearable technology created by Modjoul. An August 9th press announcement from the South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA), a public, non-profit corporation that fosters and enriches South Carolina’s innovation economy, shared how Modjoul’s SmartBelt gathers data about employee performance that is then used to drive workplace safety.
The SmartBelt uses 8 sensors and a GPS to gather information directly from workers which is then turned into customizable online metrics for easy access and readability by employers. Based in Clemson, South Carolina, Modjoul seeks to improve company safety records by giving business clients actionable insights to change how their employees operate and the conditions that cause employee injuries.
Thanks to an investment from SC Launch, an entrepreneurial program operated by SCRA, the company is using the $250,000 investment for further manufacturing and development of wearable technology.
The CEO of Modjoul, Eric Martinez, talked about the investment and his company in the press announcement, saying that, “We are excited about SCRA’s SC Launch investment in Modjoul and look forward to bringing the SmartBelt to the workplace. We truly believe the Modjoul SmartBelt will improve the way companies function by eliminating employee injuries from the workplace.”
The SmartBelt technology is currently available for pre-order on the Modjoul website.
