In order to better understand consumer trends and intentions for consumer product purchases for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Expert System applied their Cogito AI technology to analyze 120,000 tweets posted from October 20th to November 20th, 2017. Able to make sense of unstructured information and big data, the results found that a 75% majority of tweets focus on Black Friday, leaving 25% directed toward Cyber Monday deals.
Expert System’s Cogito focuses on semantic intelligence technology that uses human-like comprehension to understand large information sets, serving the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Justice as well as a range of industries such as publishing, pharmaceuticals, banking and insurance, and others all over the world. In this recent report, as well as on actual job sites, Cogito uses proprietary artificial intelligence algorithms to extract actionable knowledge from external and internal information for business value and return on interest (ROI), as noted in a recent press release.
Across all tweets sampled in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and German, Amazon is the top retailer mentioned due in part to an advertising campaign for the incoming cyber week. As for consumers, they are mostly looking forward to high-tech products–that rank the highest in any language—followed by fashion products in all languages except Italian, where it ranks third behind home products.
When it comes to specific brands all over the world, none are cited as much as Apple regardless of language. Mentions of the company are in 65% of English tweets compared to Samsung’s 35%, and the iPhone specifically is talked about in 69% of English tweets dealing with smartphones over Samsung’s 31%.
