Accelerator program HAX and automobile brand BMW MINI have joined forces to launch Urban-X, a new seed accelerator based in New York City. The mission of Urban-X is to support startups “who are shaping the future of cities through technology.” Applications are open for its inaugural class of participants.
The new accelerator describes itself on its website as providing an opportunity “to think at a truly enormous scale” and “to take what [HAX has] learned about accelerating hardware and software startups… and apply those learnings to city-scale and society-scale problems.” Urban-X is looking for founders who have similar, big-picture dreams for their products.
Selected entrants will receive a wide range of benefits including access to MINI’s team of engineering experts, introductions to potential investors and $60,000 in seed funding. Founders will also gain special visitation to policy and technology organizations in New York City and the opportunity to visit HAX and MINI facilities in Shenzhen and Munich.
The program launches in March 2016 and applications are due on February 17th, 2016. The application is available here.
