Katalist Co-founders

The two-year-old startup secured investor funding as over 250,000 video production professionals adopted its AI video production platform.

SAN FRANCISCO — Video consumption continues to grow across marketing, advertising, and entertainment, requiring production teams to create high-quality content at scale while controlling costs and timelines.

To meet those challenges, Andraz Zvonar and Blaz Blokar, who met while developing creative automation products, co-founded Katalist in 2023. Together, they identified a core industry problem: video production workflows were not unified and still very labor-intensive. Even teams with significant budgets and talent found it challenging to scale.

Their solution was a video production operating system that uses machine learning to convert scripts into shot lists, storyboards, and finished videos. By automating and connecting each stage of production, the Katalist platform enables film studios, brands, and agencies to optimize complicated workflows. This is achieved without yielding design control and production quality.

“We helped the world’s top brands create higher-quality video and reach more than one billion people while spending less,” said Zvonar. “Now our mission is to empower storytellers everywhere to do their best work without budget or time constraints.”

The company has raised $1.5 million in new funding from South Central Ventures. The capital will be used to advance product development and increase its user base.

Professionals Embrace New Technology

Katalist-produced videos reach broad audiences across television, social media, and streaming platforms. Since launching, Katalist has gained significant traction.

Today, more than 250,000 professionals use the platform to automate video production workflows. Users have created millions of projects and generated tens of millions of images and videos, validating the co-founders’ vision of an AI platform that simplifies and accelerates production.

Going forward, creators will be able to produce videos that surpass existing approaches in terms of quality, speed, and cost.

Building the Video Stack of the Future

Katalist has joined the trend of specialized AI platforms that are built for professional, domain-specific workflows. As video has become increasingly central to storytelling, marketing, and entertainment, Katalist is viewed as important infrastructure rather than an optional tool.

Katalist believes the future of video production will be defined by integrated systems that help storytellers work faster, smarter, and at scale, rather than by isolated tools.
