This year marks the fifth anniversary of a coalition dedicated to strengthening innovation in New Jersey through powerful channels including business, higher education, government and more. On October 1, 2015, join Innovation NJ at the AT&T Global Networks Operations Center as they celebrate five years of accomplishment and discuss their plans for future success.

Founded in 2010, INJ was created by Melanie Willoughby of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA). Inspired by “Building Bridges I”, a report from the New Jersey Policy Research Organization (NJPRO), the organization has since “built bridges” connecting the innovation industry with New Jersey’s top institutions of higher education.

In addition to forming eight industry-academia focus groups from 2011-2013, the Innovation New Jersey (INJ) Coalition promotes NJ policies that cultivate and stimulate growth amongst innovation in the state. According to the INJ website, the coalition is focused on creating an environment in New Jersey that will:

*Encourage increased private and public sector R&D and the commercialization of new medicines, technologies and products to improve our quality of life;

*Stimulate economic growth in New Jersey; and

*Retain and advance high-paying jobs in the state

*Retain and advance high-paying innovation-related jobs in the State, and

*Increase the number of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related graduates from New Jersey colleges and universities.

Today, INJ has developed into a leading organization for political change and development in favor of innovation. To learn more about Innovation NJ, visit InnovationNJ.net.
