The AI startup won over judges with a new approach to fixing prior authorization delays that strain hospital systems and slow patient care.
SOUTHLAKE, Texas — Authparency.ai, an AI-enabled healthcare technology company focused on improving a major step in health service delivery, has won First Prize at the inaugural Southlake Innovation Cup.
The healthcare startup is tackling prior authorization that has quietly become one of the most criticized pain points in U.S. healthcare. The cost-control measure is viewed as a delaying treatment for patients. It also burdens clinicians with administrative work and contributes to burnout across already strained hospital systems.
For providers who desire automation for greater efficiency, their concern is whether a new technology actually fits into real clinical workflows without creating more friction.
“This award is especially meaningful because it comes from fellow entrepreneurs and operators who understand that real innovation is not just about technology, but about execution,” said Manish Jain, Co-Founder and Vice President of Authparency.ai.
The healthcare technology startup presented its platform, which increases efficiency and reduces denials in the insurer approval process. That is considered fundamental to the delivery of certain treatments or services to patients.
Originally established as a cost-efficiency measure, the approval procedures have been found to frequently cause delayed care, increase administrative workload, and contribute to system overload.
These administrative problems approach $31 billion annually, bolstering the judges’ decision to recognize Authparency.ai’s solution.
Critical Industry Experience
The co-founders created an operational foundation to launch as a post-revenue business with active pilots within hospitals.
“Our experience building and scaling workflow automation for large enterprises showed me that sustainable innovation comes from understanding operational friction firsthand,” said Sapan Bafna, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Authparency.ai.
The company is incubated by Oncospark, Inc., a healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM) firm that has supported healthcare organizations for over a decade. It also leverages automation expertise from Outamation, a workflow automation company led by Bafna.
Growing Demand for Practical AI in Healthcare
Entrepreneurs, operators, and innovators gathered at The Southlake Foundation’s innovation competition to solve real-world problems.
Authparency.ai is part of a growing trend in healthcare technology. Providers and investors look for operationally informed AI solutions that integrate into current systems. They do not favor introducing additional complexity.
With momentum from the Innovation Cup win, Authparency.ai plans to accelerate deployments across hospital systems and expand integrations.
