Bain Capital Ventures Partner Jeff Williams will join Halycon as Chief Revenue Officer
The calvary is on its way, with ransom platform Halcyon just announcing its closing of a $40M Series B funding round led by Bain Capital Ventures (BCV). The current round was oversubscribed and follows a $50M Series A round in April 2023—bringing total funding raised in 2023 to $90M.
“Halcyon is taking a revolutionary approach to stopping ransomware, not only delivering a robust prevention layer but giving organizations what they truly need – cyber resilience,” said BCV Partner and former Symantec CEO, Enrique Salem, who is joining Halycon’s board. “The team has deep expertise and experience, and I look forward to joining them as they work to change the impact of ransomware, and ultimately, defeat it.”
Enterprise clients across all verticals are the target of Halycon’s aggressive approach to countering ransomware attacks. The latest round of funding will help with engineering, R&D, and sales functions with a specific client focus on education, financial services and healthcare.
Halcyon touts that it is the only anti-ransomware platform on the market built to prevent incoming attacks and mitigate the impact to the business. Their service offers multi-layered prevention and endpoint resilience with automated encryption key material capture and autonomous decryption capabilities.
“Halcyon is a pioneer in the cybersecurity industry and the company has an extraordinary opportunity in front of it,” said CEO and Co-founder Williams. “I’m honored to be working alongside a leadership team of seasoned cybersecurity professionals at a pivotal moment in the fight against ransomware.”
Williams background includes 25 plus years of operating experience and extensive expertise in infrastructure software and security. Investors appreciate his record of scaling early-stage enterprise technology companies that have gone on to become market leaders. He has had prior roles in other ventures that had successful exits.
